Answers · Monetization & getting paid

How many views do you need to get paid on TikTok?

Short answer: There's no single view threshold — how many views you need depends on how you're getting paid. TikTok's Creator Rewards Program requires eligibility (commonly around 10,000 followers plus a recent 30-day view minimum) and only pays on qualified views of videos over a minute. Brand deals and TikTok Shop can pay with far fewer views.

It depends on how you're getting paid

The question assumes one payout tied to raw views, but TikTok has several income paths and each has its own trigger. The program most people mean is the Creator Rewards Program, which replaced the old Creator Fund. It pays on qualified views — not every view counts. To be eligible you generally need to be 18+, live in a supported region, and hit follower and recent-view minimums that TikTok sets. Those figures move and vary by country, so check TikTok's official eligibility page for the current numbers before you count on them.

Views aren't the only way to get paid

  • Brand deals: a brand pays you directly, and a single sponsored video can earn more than months of view-based payouts — you can land small deals long before you're eligible for Creator Rewards.
  • TikTok Shop and affiliate: you earn commission when viewers buy, so a smaller video that converts can out-earn a bigger one that doesn't.
  • LIVE gifts: viewers send virtual gifts during your livestreams (you typically need around 1,000 followers to go LIVE, and to be 18+).
  • Tips, subscriptions, and selling your own product or service — none of which are gated on a view count.

If your goal is specifically the view-based payout, focus first on clearing eligibility, then on watch time and completion, because qualified views — over-a-minute videos watched meaningfully by real users in eligible regions — are what actually count. Raw views on a 15-second clip may pay nothing at all.

Common misconception: hitting a view number automatically means a check arrives. It doesn't. You have to be enrolled in a monetization program and meet its rules — views on their own, outside a program, pay you zero.
