Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a Duet and a Stitch?
A Duet plays your video side-by-side with the original at the same time, so both run together — ideal for reactions and follow-alongs. A Stitch clips a few seconds of another video and then continues with yours, one after the other — ideal for answering or responding. Duet is simultaneous; Stitch is sequential.
Can I Duet any video on TikTok?
Only if the original creator has Duets enabled for that video; some turn the feature off in their settings. When it's allowed, tap Share, then Duet, and record your side. Instagram's side-by-side Remix works similarly, but availability still depends on each creator's settings.
How do I make a Duet that actually adds value?
Give viewers something the original didn't — a genuine reaction, a live attempt at the skill, a correction, or a harmony — and time it to the source's beats so the two halves feel like one conversation. If your side could be removed without losing anything, rework it.
