Why are my comments not showing on TikTok?
Short answer: Your comments usually aren't showing because of TikTok's filters, automatic spam detection, your keyword filter, or a review hold can hide them before they're public. Other causes: the commenter got blocked, a temporary app glitch, or your comment settings restricting who can reply. Check your comment filter settings and refresh the app first.
Filters and moderation hide comments before you see them
Most missing comments were caught by a filter, not deleted by anyone. TikTok runs automatic spam and offensive-content detection that can hide comments the moment they're posted. On top of that, you may have filters switched on yourself, keyword filters, a filter that holds all comments for your review, or a setting that only lets certain people comment. Comments held for review don't appear publicly until you approve them, so from the commenter's side they look posted while from the public side they're invisible.
The other common causes
Not every vanished comment is filtered. The person may have deleted it themselves, or been blocked by you, which hides all their comments. A temporary app glitch or stale cache can hide comments that reappear after a refresh. And if a video is under review or restricted, its comments can be limited too. So before assuming something's broken, rule out the simple explanations.
- Check your comment filters in Settings, then Privacy, then Comments, and turn off keyword or review filters you didn't mean to enable.
- Force-close and reopen the app, or check on another device, to rule out a cache glitch.
- Look at your comment permissions, since 'Friends only' or 'No one' hides comments from everyone else.
- Ask the commenter to confirm it still shows on their end; if it does for them but not others, it's likely filtered.
- Remember you can pin a comment you want to keep visible so it never gets buried.
Common misconception: hidden comments mean the algorithm is suppressing you. Comment filtering is a moderation and settings feature, separate from how your video is distributed. A filtered comment doesn't mean your reach is being throttled.
