Answers · Account problems & troubleshooting

How can you tell if your TikTok account is flagged?

Short answer: There is no official flag indicator, so you infer it from a pattern: a sudden collapse in views across every post, videos stuck under review, your content missing from search and hashtag results, or a violation notice in your inbox. One flopped video isn't a flag; a consistent account-wide drop is the tell.

Signs that point to a flag

  • Views collapse across every post at once, not just on one weak video. A sudden account-wide drop toward near-zero is the clearest tell.
  • Your videos don't appear under the hashtags or search terms you used, even when you search from another account.
  • New posts sit under review far longer than usual, or get removed after publishing.
  • You received a Community Guidelines notice, or features like Live, comments, or search got restricted.
  • Your content stops showing on the For You feed of accounts that normally see it.

How to check and what to do

TikTok doesn't hang a flagged label on your profile, so you confirm it through Settings. Open Settings and privacy, then Account, then Account status; it lists any violations, video removals, and current restrictions. If something's there and you believe it's wrong, appeal it directly from that screen. If nothing's listed but views are still flat, it's more likely a distribution problem than a flag: check that your account isn't private, that individual videos aren't set to a limited audience, and that your retention is holding.

Common misconception: a shadowban is permanent. Most reach restrictions ease as flagged content ages off your profile and you post clean videos that perform. Deleting your whole account and starting over is almost never the right first move. Check Account status before you do anything drastic.
