Why does my TikTok say under review?
Short answer: Under review means TikTok is running your video through its moderation system, usually automated and sometimes human, to check it against Community Guidelines before deciding how widely to distribute it. It's routine and often clears within a few hours. Being reviewed doesn't mean you did something wrong; many clean videos get checked automatically.
What triggers a review
TikTok moderates uploads with automated systems first, and sometimes routes them to human reviewers. A video can get flagged for review by on-screen visuals, spoken or captioned words, the audio track, certain topics, or simply random quality sampling. Plenty of perfectly fine videos pass through review for no obvious reason. Reviews usually clear within a few hours, though busy periods or borderline content can take longer. Your video may still get reviewed after it's already public, which is why a live post can suddenly show under review.
What to do while it's under review
- Wait it out. Most reviews resolve on their own within a few hours without any action from you.
- Don't delete and immediately repost the same video; you lose any early momentum and gain nothing.
- If it's stuck well beyond a day, or gets removed and you believe that's wrong, appeal from Settings, then Account, then Account status.
- Avoid obvious triggers next time. Flashing risky keywords in captions or audio invites extra scrutiny.
Common misconception: under review means you've been penalized or flagged. It's routine moderation, not a verdict. Deleting the video the moment it enters review is usually the worst move. You throw away its first-hour distribution to escape a check that would likely have cleared on its own.
